Here are some common questions
about Duff’s Cottages.
FAQ’s
What’s the place like?
Duff’s Cottages is a cottage rental business with eight cottages that surround a large, scenic field that gently slopes down to Lake Muskoka. At the foot of the field is a 300′ natural, sandy beach. Our unique location provides an exceptionally safe environment for families with young children and beginner swimmers. Our guests enjoy wading in the water for about 100′ until the water reaches shoulder level. There are no sudden drops or rocks to disturb your swim. It makes this property the ideal rental location for families interested in the classic Muskoka cottaging experience.
Are pets allowed?
Yes. We enjoy well-behaved pets, and we require pet owners to be responsible and conscientious.
What are the cottages like?
These cottages were built in the 1940s in the classic Muskoka style. They provide a rustic cottaging experience for those that enjoy creaky screen doors, mismatched furniture, and breath-taking views. Five of the eight cottages come with screened in porches. The other three have generous living areas.
Can we have our own camp fire?
The Duff’s community has a couple of great locations for camp fires. Duff’s has a beautiful tradition of community spirit – cottagers often come together to sing songs, toast marshmallows, and tell stories around the fire.
What do people do for fun while staying at Duff’s?
Duff’s cottages is an ideal place for relaxing, playing, and spending quality time with friends and family. We have a grass volley ball court, a shuffle board, paddle boats, kayaks, a 66′ dock, and a floating raft. Please see the Activities page for a fun list of local recreation ideas.
Is there wifi?
Yes. We have free wifi for all guests!
Are there televisions?
No. Although guests are welcome to bring their own electronics, Duff’s does not supply TVs or stereos. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the majesty of Muskoka’s natural beauty.
Do you have food service?
No. Duff’s Cottages are ‘housekeeping cottages’ – It is a bit like moving into a fully-furnished house for a week.
Is there bedding?
We ask our guests to bring their own bed linens and blankets or sleeping bags for the beds. Guests should also bring their own hand towels, beach and kitchen towels.
Are there kitchens in the cottages?
Yes. Each kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, fridge, stove, etc. You may wish to bring your favorite knives and all necessary deposible items (such as paper towel, dish soap, salt, pepper, basket coffee filters, etc). Each cottage has a barbeque and picnic table.
